Philadelphia, PA — The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia has appointed Mark A. Turner, president, CEO, and a director of WSFS Financial Corporation and WSFS Bank in Wilmington, DE, to represent the Third Federal Reserve District on the Federal Advisory Council for 2016.

Each Federal Reserve Bank chooses one person every year to represent its District on this 12-member council, created by the Federal Reserve Act. Council members are banking industry representatives who consult with and advise the Board of Governors on all matters within the Board’s jurisdiction; they customarily serve three one-year terms. The council meets in Washington, D.C., at least four times a year.

Turner joined WSFS in 1996 and was the CFO and COO until his promotion to president and CEO in 2007. Turner previously was vice president of finance at both the former CoreStates Bank and the former Meridian Bancorp. Before that, he was a senior manager at KPMG, LLP.

Turner is the chairman of the Delaware Business Roundtable and a member of the executive committee of the board of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the board of trustees of Delaware State University. He has an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, a master’s degree in executive leadership from the University of Nebraska, and a bachelor’s degree in accounting and management from La Salle University.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia helps formulate and implement monetary policy, supervises banks and bank and savings and loan holding companies, and provides financial services to depository institutions and the federal government. It is one of the 12 regional Reserve Banks that, together with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., make up the Federal Reserve System. The Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank serves eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware.
