Tosmai Puenpatom joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia in 2013. He works in the regional section of the Research Department and supervises the monthly production of the Bank’s state coincident and leading indexes. The state coincident index combines four state-level economic indicators to summarize current economic conditions in a single statistic for each of the 50 states. The state leading index is a six-month-ahead projection of the corresponding state coincident index.
Puenpatom previously spent six years in health-care research, where he used his expertise in quantitative and analytical statistics to study health-care utilization and drug safety issues. His recent research focuses on state-level economic indicators and their revision effects. These indicators include state nonfarm payroll employment, the unemployment rate, and state personal income.
Puenpatom received both a doctorate degree in economics and a master’s degree in statistics from Washington State University.
