About Xudong An
Xudong (Sean) An is an officer in the Supervision, Regulation, and Credit Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, and he manages the Retail Supervisory Modeling Teams for the System-wide Dodd–Frank Act Stress Test.
An conducts research in the areas of credit risk, real estate finance, and consumer finance. His research papers have appeared in such academic journals as the Journal of Financial Economics, the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, and Real Estate Economics. An is one of the leading experts in the modeling of mortgage prepayment and default risks, and he consulted with Fannie Mae, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
An is on the editorial boards of Real Estate Economics and the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics. He also serves the academic community as a board director of the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association (AREUEA) and has been a member of program committees and award committees of the International Finance and Banking Society (IFABS), the American Real Estate Society (ARES), and AREUEA.
Before joining the Fed, An was a tenured professor of finance and the Endowed Professor of Real Estate at San Diego State University. He was also a visiting associate professor at the University of California, Los Angeles. He was a real estate consultant and manager at a Chinese real estate consulting firm before coming to the United States. An was also a Homer Hoyt Institute Postdoctoral Honoree in 2010 and was elected as a Fellow of the Weimer School of the Homer Hoyt Institute in 2015. An has a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California.
