The Research Department is looking for research assistants to perform basic statistical and econometric analyses to support the research initiated by economists. A key part of the job is to identify and collect data required for research projects, monetary policy, and senior management briefings. The principal duties and responsibilities include conducting statistical and econometric analysis on personal computers; organizing data for analysis and writing computer programs using SAS, STATA, and other statistical software. Research assistants also present the results of research to economists and management in oral or written reports.
In addition, research assistants:
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in economics or equivalent education with an emphasis on mathematics and statistics. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are a must. They must also have the knowledge and ability to apply economic theory and quantitative analysis techniques under the direct supervision of a staff economist.
