The Philadelphia Fed Research Department posts analysis on its website within one week of the regional data releases listed below, including monthly building permits (Census Bureau)
and employment (Bureau of Labor Statistics)
and quarterly housing prices as reported by the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO). ![]()
Each file provides a listing of Third District commercial banks, credit card banks, state member banks, and bank holding companies. The lists include a summary of market statistics and each institution’s location and asset size as of the most recent quarter. Information is updated quarterly.
Historical statistics dating back to 1990 are available from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation’s website on new charters, mergers, and bank failures. Statistics on the latest quarterly data for FDIC-insured institutions are also available.
The Federal Reserve's banking regulations
are described along with any pending amendments on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors' website. Congress has assigned the Board responsibility for implementing the Federal Reserve Act
, which established the Federal Reserve System, and certain other laws pertaining to banking and financial activities. The Board implements those laws in part through its regulations.
The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) publishes Uniform Bank Performance Reports
quarterly, derived from bank call report data. The performance reports compare an individual bank's performance and balance-sheet structure against those of similarly sized institutions.
The FFIEC publishes quarterly bank holding company performance reports
derived from bank holding company Y-series financial reports. Similar to the bank performance reports, these reports compare a bank holding company's performance and balance-sheet structure with those of similarly sized institutions. Customized performance reports are not available for this reporting series.
Obtain definitions of the regional banking markets, including a map of the markets, summary market statistics, and more detailed market tables. Market tables contain information such as the number of institutions, branches, total deposits, and more. All data are based on the "Summary of Deposits" collected by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
