Home > Community Development > Community Development Events > Models of Surviving and Thriving CDCs: A Forum on Organizational Approaches and Strategies
Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia
Tuesday, August 9, 2011, 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Community development corporations (CDCs) face significant challenges in today’s economy. They have endured significant cutbacks in funding for programs and operations while opportunities to earn revenues have been stymied. Many CDCs have found new ways to create efficiencies within their organizations, through mergers or shared resources, while others have created special-purpose organizations to accomplish specific goals.
The forum will examine the benefits and challenges of several different strategies used by organizations to improve their productivity and efficiency and will explore the deliberations of boards and staff in order to make such changes. The forum will help bring into focus the opportunities and challenges for improving CDCs’ ability to achieve their mission.
