Bridge of Hope – Lancaster and Chester Counties

Christ's Home for Children

Mission

To serve needy or neglected children and youth by providing a stable, caring home built on biblical principles while meeting their educational, medical, emotional, and social needs.

Clare House

Mission

Clare House serves homeless women and children by providing a temporary home in a caring environment, life skills programs, and aftercare support leading to self-sufficiency.

  • Residency: Operates transitional shelter facilities that provide housing as well as food, clothing, and personal supplies to homeless women and children.
  • Case-Management: Provides a structured, comprehensive case-management program.

Community Action Program of Lancaster County

Mission

To assist low-income families to become self-sufficient and less dependent upon public assistance.

Year of Origin

1966

Core Programs

  • Provides social services for low-income families, including a domestic violence program; the Head Start and Promise programs; the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program; a nutrition education program; and a fatherhood initiative program. It also operates a child care center, food distribution warehouse, and helpline.
  • Operates CAP Housing, Inc., a subsidiary of CAP that focuses on the development of affordable housing for low-income families.
  • Provides a CAP Employment and Training Program that provides basic skills development and work experience to people without a high school diploma and who lack a steady work history.

Crispus Attucks Community Center

Mission

To improve the quality of life for youth and families in Lancaster by providing services that promote community prosperity, and physical and mental health; and by offering programs and cultural events that preserve the African American heritage.

Mission

Lancaster Area Habitat for Humanity

Mission

Lancaster Area Habitat for Humanity builds new homes and renovates or repairs older homes in partnership with families in need and community volunteers.

  • Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable loans. The homeowners’ monthly mortgage payments are used to build future Habitat houses. Lancaster County Human Relations Commission Fair Housing Program

Mission

To investigate, educate, and enforce laws prohibiting housing discrimination on behalf of the federal and local government within Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

Lancaster Housing Opportunity Partnership

Lutheran Children & Family Service (LCFS) Refugee Resettlement Program

Mission

The LCFS Refugee Resettlement Program is a local affiliate of the national Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, which assists refugees and asylees through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of State.

Neighborhood Services

Mission

Neighborhood Services is committed to all initiatives that strengthen neighborhoods and assist individuals in developing independence and improving quality-of-life through self-empowerment by way of prevention and employment programs and homeownership.

  • Guardianship Program: Provides protection services when the court determines that an individual is unable to care for his- or herself, property, or both, thus becoming a ward.
  • Representative Payee: Clients are referred to this program after they have demonstrated and have been medically determined to be unable to successfully manage their government entitlements. This service protects client resources, provides basic life skills coaching, pays bills and fines, both current and past due, and ensures that resources go toward the maintenance of the individual or family unit.
  • Permanent Supportive Housing: Provides housing for residents that meet the homelessness definition as established by the United Way of Lancaster County’s State of Housing and Homelessness Impact Report. They must have a disability and have committed a lesser degree felony.
  • EARN Retention Program: Provides case management to adults’ entry or re-entry into the workforce.

Spanish American Civic Association (SACA)

Mission

To foster and perpetuate the cultural, social, and economic well-being of the Hispanic people of the city and county of Lancaster and thereby contribute to the general well-being of the community at large.
