Jeremy Nowak, Chairman

Jeremy Nowak, president and CEO of the William Penn Foundation, Philadelphia, is the chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia’s board of directors and has been a director since January 2008. He has also served on the Federal Reserve’s Consumer Advisory Council. Prior to his current position at the William Penn Foundation, Nowak had been president and CEO of The Reinvestment Fund in Philadelphia, which he co-founded in 1985.

Nowak was also the chairman of the Mastery Charter School and Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. He has served on the board of the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency. In 2011, he was recognized by the Opportunity Finance Network with its Ned Gramlich Lifetime Achievement Award for Responsible Finance. Nowak has a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology from the New School for Social Research, New York.
